The Tasmanian Association of Nursing Students (TANS) is a student-led society dedicated to supporting, connecting, and advocating for nursing students at the University of Tasmania.

TANS exists to foster a strong sense of community across all nursing cohorts and pathways, promote nursing as a profession, and support students throughout their studies, placements, and transition into professional practice. We aim to create inclusive opportunities for social connection, peer support, discussion, skills development, and engagement with the broader nursing community.

Our activities include social events, wellbeing initiatives, discussion groups, guest speakers, educational and clinical skills sessions, and volunteering opportunities. TANS also advocates for best-practice teaching, consistency in assessment, and improved learning outcomes for nursing students.

We welcome all UTAS nursing students and are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive space that reflects the shared experiences and challenges of nursing education in Tasmania.

TANS committee meetings are held monthly during the academic year, with additional meetings and events scheduled as needed. General members are encouraged to engage through events, activities, and online platforms, with opportunities for involvement announced throughout the year.
