TUSA Board of Management Chair

TUSA is seeking to appoint a new Board of Management Chair, as the organisation moves into a new strategic phase and focus for 2026 and beyond.  

This is an opportunity for an experienced governance professional who is passionate about supporting our university students and the broader local community. We are looking for a leader to continue our ambition to create positive impacts for the coming decades. 

Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and people with disability are encouraged to apply. 

The chair role requires demonstrated past governance experience and chairing responsibilities, strong communication, stakeholder management skills, excellent judgement, and an understanding of the principles of organisational governance and strategy. Exposure to community or social impact, major strategic projects or funds generation, and an understanding of the education sector, not-for-profit or commercial businesses is highly valued by the TUSA.  

The TUSA Chair role receives a small honorarium of $8,000 annually in recognition of their contribution to the Association. Other Board member positions are voluntary and unpaid. Reasonable reimbursement of costs is also available. 

Appointment to the role will be for an initial period of three years

Applying for the Board Chair position involves completing the form within the Board Chair Applicant Pack and providing a brief Curriculum Vitae (CV).  These documents should be returned to TUSA General Manager, Shauna-Lee Ward, shaunalee.ward@utas.edu.au. Once submitted, you will receive email confirmation that your application has been received. 

The application process involves the following steps: 

  1. Processing of applications – once applications close, they will be considered and short-listed by the Selection Panel, convened by the TUSA Governance and Nominations Committee.
  2. Interview – short-listed candidates will be invited to an interview from mid-April.
  3. Referee and other checks – TUSA will conduct referee checks, and other checks if required, before making a final assessment of each applicant.
  4. Consultation – once the Selection Panel has identified their preferred candidate, consultation with the TUSA General Manager and the University of Tasmania will be undertaken. The Governance and Nominations Committee will also provide a recommendation to the TUSA Board for consideration and approval. 
  5. Advice to applicants – once a final decision has been made, applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by email and/or post.

TUSA Board of Management Member

TUSA is seeking to appoint a new Board of Management Member, as the organisation moves into a new strategic phase and focus for 2026 and beyond.  

This is an opportunity for a professional who is passionate about supporting our university students and the broader local community, and to support our ambition to create positive impacts for the coming decades. We are seeking applicants with a diverse range of lived experiences and capabilities, with a preference for applicants with skills and expertise in Strategy and Partnerships.

Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and people with disability are encouraged to apply. 

Exposure to community or social impact, major strategic projects or funds generation, and an understanding of the education sector, not-for-profit or commercial businesses is highly valued by the TUSA.  

Please note that TUSA Board positions are voluntary and unpaid. Reasonable reimbursement of costs is available. Meetings of the Board are held bimonthly, with the schedule beginning in February of each year.

EOI: Investment Advisory Services (3+2 Year Contract)

The Tasmania University Students Association (TUSA) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced Investment Advisors to provide expert, independent advice and portfolio management support for TUSA’s investment activities. 

The appointed Investment Advisor will work closely with the TUSA Board of Management and General Manager to ensure returns are optimised, risks are prudently managed, and all investments comply with TUSA’s strong ethical and socially responsible investing values.  

This EOI seeks information to shortlist providers for a subsequent Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
