Overview

The TUSA Birth Control Subsidy is designed to support enrolled students at UTAS who need financial support towards their birth control/contraception prescriptions, regardless of which pharmacy they choose to purchase from.

Successful applicants will be provided with a reimbursement on the cost of their contraceptive prescription expenses, up to the value of $100 per calendar year. A tax invoice for proof of purchase is required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The student must be an enrolled UTAS student;
  • Have purchased a eligible birth control/contraception prescription in the 3weeks;
  • The student is experiencing financial pressure that affects their ability to manage the cost of contraception.
  • The contraception is intended for the student’s personal use and relates to their reproductive health.
  • The claim must relate to contraception prescription expenses.
  • Click here for a list of eligible birth control options.

Please note:

  • Purchases of condoms and menstrual products are not eligible, TUSA provides free condoms and menstrual products at most events and at TUSA offices and those items are not covered by this program.
  • An Intrauterine Device (IUD) is also covered under this program. Any costs associated with obtaining the prescription or insertion will not be covered; this subsidy only provides support for the prescription itself.
