The Postgraduate Gallery Society is a society for creatives within all faculties of UTAS, providing opportunities for emerging visual artists to take part in exhibitions, emerging poets to take part in literary events, emerging authors to launch their literary works, and emerging performers to take part in concerts/performances. The Society membership consists of undergraduate and postgraduate currently enrolled students, UTAS alumni, and community members.

In 2025 we will be holding 3 art exhibitions, 2 literary events and we aim for 1 theatre/music performance. Last year we won a competitive proposal to exhibit in George Town and this exhibition will be held in May 2025 featuring 8 member’s artworks.

We hold monthly committee meetings and members can attend as observers. If a member would like to nominate to become a general committee member they can do so.

We will be taking part in the UTAS 0 Week and Clubs and Societies Day events in semester 1 and plan to participate similarly in semester 2.

Our first event in 2025 is a fundraising event – the Postcard Show exhibition – in March 2025, where A5 artworks created during the 0 week and C&S events, as well as donated artworks from members and sponsors will be sold to raise funds to help cover the exhibition and event costs in 2025.

We are currently negotiating with a Launceston Gallery to host the Society’s Visual Arts Prize later in 2025. The first prize will be a solo exhibition opportunity in 2026 with 6 months mentoring, and the Peoples Choice award will be a monetary prize.
