Shut Up & Write! Sessions
“Shut Up and Write!” is a two-hour gathering where you prioritize writing above all else.
Are you struggling with focus and productivity when working alone? Join us for our VIRTUAL “Shut Up and Write!” sessions on Monday July 7th and Monday July 14th.
Regardless of whether you’re in your campus office in Hobart or working in a public library in Darwin, all on-campus, interstate, and international postgraduate UTAS students are welcome to join our Zoom sessions.
Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary activity. In fact, writing in the company of others can greatly enhance your productivity and focus. “Shut Up and Write!” (SUAW) offers a social writing experience, creating a supportive group environment where everyone can concentrate on their writing.
What is “Shut Up and Write!”?
- A supportive group writing session: Write with a group of individuals who share your writing goals.
- Writing is divided into short bursts of 25 minutes with breaks in between (using the Pomodoro Technique). Repeat this cycle for a couple of hours and be amazed by your increased productivity!
What “Shut Up and Write!” is not:
- A taught course or educational session on writing: Explore HDR Resources and the Library for research writing workshops and support.
- Competitive, ego-driven, or critical: Join us in a friendly environment where the focus is on writing together without judgment.
