About our Food Hub
The TUSA Food Hub supports UTAS students by providing access to free and low-cost groceries each week – fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, pantry items and frozen meals are available.

Register to access Food Hub:
Pre-register from 6pm Fridays to guarantee your spot, or drop in and book on the day (if available).
🚫 One ticket per student per week – duplicates will be removed.
What to bring:
- Your UTAS student ID – required for entry
- A tote bag for your groceries
- Containers or Jars for bulk pantry items

What if I can't afford Food Hub?
There is always the free ticket option – which gives you fresh produce, bread and frozen meals.
If you’re in significant need, contact the Student Advocacy Team for additional support.
What can I expect at the Food Hub?
Food Hub provides basic groceries, including fruit, vegetables, pantry staples and bread.
- Fresh produce and bread are donated from our partners, and is seasonal, so stock availability varies weekly.
- Pantry staples are purchased to ensure availability, we aim to stock essential items.
- Our Food Hub is run by volunteers — we do our best to accommodate needs but cannot guarantee specific items each week. Please be kind.
We partner with local organisations Loaves & Fishes, OzHarvest, Foodbank Tasmania, Gateway Life Solutions and Eat Well Tasmania.
What if I need food outside Food Hub hours?

Tasmania
The Tasmanian Government has a directory of services listed all in one location – you will find services that support food relief and food resilience. Assistance available includes food relief such as hampers and ready-to-eat meals. Other services available include food resilience activities such as community gardens and cooking classes.
NSW
The AskIzzy Website provides you with a list of food support nearby, where you can search by services needed and also location. Some particularly accessible services are OzHarvest Market Waterloo, and Addi Road.

Program Supporters





$100,000 granted by the Tasmanian Government through the Healthy Tasmania Fund, in support of the expansion of the Food Hub to all UTAS Campuses in Tasmania.
$100,000 given from University of Tasmania Staff Giving Fund, Alumni and Donors for the infrastructure and staffing to support the Food Hub Expansion to all UTAS Campuses.
$50,000 granted from Tasmanian Community Fund the Food Education Project, to provide cooking, nutrition and gardening workshops to UTAS Students in Southern Tasmania.
$7,500 granted through the Youth Climate Action Fund Grant from City of Hobart, for the support of a plant-based milk tap and provision of local soy products at Sandy Bay and Hobart City Food Hubs.
$5,000 granted from City of Hobart Community Grants, for a community lunch program across the Hobart and Sandy Bay Campuses.
